Tradition Genève 1959 Partners with Plastic Bank to Combat Plastic Pollution and Poverty

Tradition Securities And Futures Paris, succursale de Genève (referred hereafter as Tradition Genève 1959), today proudly announces its new partnership with Plastic Bank, further deepening its dedication to sustainable environmental practices and advancing its social impact initiatives. This collaboration is designed to address two of the world’s most pressing challenges, plastic pollution and poverty, while aligning with Tradition Genève’s broader impact investing strategies.

This innovative initiative allows investors to make a tangible impact by supporting Plastic Bank’s efforts to remove plastic waste from the environment while simultaneously improving the livelihoods of people in underserved communities.

Fighting Plastic Pollution at Scale

Plastic pollution continues to devastate the environment, with over 12 million tons of plastic entering the oceans each year. By partnering with Plastic Bank, Tradition Genève 1959 will support the removal of  ocean boundplastic from the environment, preventing its likelihood of ending up in the ocean and polluting marine ecosystems.

Plastic Bank’s collection communities in developing regions will collect this plastic waste. The collected plastic, processed into recycled plastic feedstock, is reintegrated into the global supply chain for reuse in various products and packaging.

Creating a Path Out of Poverty

In addition to its environmental impact, the partnership is focused on social equity. Plastic Bank empowers collection members in underserved communities to exchange plastic waste for income and social benefits such as health, work and life insurance, educational support, and grocery vouchers. As part of this program, Plastic Bank has supported more than 600 collection communities, enabling economic opportunities for over 50,000 community members.

“Our collaboration with Plastic Bank enables us to align financial innovation with addressing significant global challenges,” said Joseph CUSANNO, CEO at Tradition Genève 1959. “By integrating sustainability into our investment products through this new investment Label called the Blue Note, we not only help fight plastic pollution but also provide essential economic opportunities to those in need.” Said Sebastien PANNELIER Head of Structured Products at Tradition Genève 1959.

“Our communities have stopped over 140 million kilograms of discarded plastic from polluting the environment—the largest volume of hand-gathered plastic to date,” shared David Katz, Founder and CEO of Plastic Bank. “Behind this milestone are over 500 progressive businesses like Tradition Genève 1959 that dared to do more than tick the box for ‘corporate social responsibility.’ They chose to be disruptors, pioneers in redefining what business can achieve when it aligns prosperity with purpose,” he added

Sustainability at the Core of Tradition Genève’s Mission

Tradition Genève’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond this partnership. Through its newly developed Structured Product Label, investors are offered a unique opportunity to make impactful, socially responsible investments that yield both financial returns and environmental benefits. Lastly, Tradition Genève 1959 has also collaborated with leading global organizations like the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to address public health issues, including breast cancer detection in low- and middle-income countries.

By supporting global initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1 -No Poverty-, SDG 3 – Good Health-, SDG 5 – Gender Equality-, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities-,  SDG 12 -Responsible Consumption and Production-, and SDG 14 -Life Below Water-, Tradition Genève reaffirms its role as a financial institution committed to positive global change.
